Emmet's repair shop started out as a second burrow. The back rooms still had mostly earthen walls. Eventually, it would be built up into a more sophisticated operation, and joined up to "Burrow Prime" (as he called the site of his main residence and lab).
He'd brought over some furniture from the old place—along with the ferret, who always seemed to be on the fritz about something. Either something had blown up down below or a customer was blowing up out front. Either way, Emmet didn't feel it was his problem to solve.
