Here's a lovely rendition of Pixie the jaguar, as drawn by Symrea. Pixie (serial number P-XRF) is artificial, a robotic jaguar in a lifelike chassis, with a very excitable personality, so dancing around in the grass like a puppy is absolutely something he would do, especially now he has the sensation of fur instead of armour. Pixie has neon green claws (he chose the colour himself).

The jaguar equivalent of Binky the puma. Except that Pixie was never flesh and blood in the first place.
Not all panthers like the idea of being furry, some of them are a bit paranoid about being killed so they prefer the fully armoured bodies.
So this is more of an alternative chassis for the adventurous ones than an upgrade.

Yeah, obviously they reused as much as they could, but it's mostly internal components such as the electronics, brain module, power plant etc.
At the end of the day, the biomimetic robots are fundamentally different in how they're designed. Pixie has a metal skeleton with artificial muscles that ripple when he moves, whereas the cyberjags are more like something from Boston Dynamics, an armoured exoskeleton with the mechanisms fitting inside it.
