Måns Carlgren wakes up to the thud as the morning paper lands on the hall carpet. Small, careful steps are heard from the postman as he descends the stairs. Måns remains in bed and snuggles. It's so nice and good in bed.
Mån's wife, Elisa Carlgren, grunts in her sleep and pulls the top piece of the duvet towards her. Måns smiles at her and thinks how happy they are. They have been together for 40 years now.
They have had the apartment almost as long. Most of all, they would like to move to their own villa, but the prices are far too high where they would like to live.
Måns is 69 years old and Elisa is 62 years old.
Måns decides to stay a while longer. Elisa usually never gets up until half past six and it's an hour until then. After a while, Måns falls asleep again.
The alarm clock wakes them both up with its miserable blaring. Ideally, Elisa would like to wake up a little calmer, but she knows that she needs to wake up really early in order to get started on her chores.
Elisa goes to the bathroom and takes a shower while Måns puts on coffee and tea. He also turns on the microwave where there is oatmeal for both of them. Actually, Måns doesn't have to get up because he's retired, but he wants to keep Elisa company in the morning.
They sit and eat breakfast and are engrossed in the daily newspaper. Elisa always reads the first part with the news, while Måns reads the second part with advertisements and the like. As always, he looks for advertisements for vacant villas with an acceptable price level.
He is about to close the newspaper with a sigh when he sees a small advertisement for a house. Måns puts on his reading glasses to see the text better.
“Unique opportunity, will never come again. LOOK HERE!

Måns then reads the text in progress. It almost sounds too good to be true. He looks up the address on Google Earth and sees that the house is in the part of town where the villas are usually expensive. The house looks attractive but not as flashy as the other houses in the area.
Måns shows the ad for Elisa. She also becomes interested. Both know that they actually have enough money that it would work. But at the same time they both hesitate. It all seems a little too good to be true. Måns decides to call the seller during the day.
Elisa drives to her job at the nursing home in Rödeby. She enjoys her job and does not want to change to something else. The whole morning is spent cleaning the house of an elderly lady who has just died. It is very quiet in the apartment and Elisa turns on her mobile and listens to Spotify.
At ten o'clock, Måns calls the number in the ad. They make an appointment the same day to show the house. The man on the phone tells us that so far Måns is the first speculator.
Elisa finishes her job at three o'clock and comes home. In the hall, she is met by an exasperated Måns. He tells them that they will look at the house today at five o'clock. They heat some food that quickly goes down. Both are nervous and look at the clock more often than they have ever done before.
So is the time and they walk towards Mån's car. Both of them have cars, but the car that Måns has is the best of the two. Måns is driving. He is the best at driving although Elisa is also good. It takes barely ten minutes to get to the house. In the vicinity of the area there is a shopping center and several shops. There is also a large bus stop where many buses depart.
The house is high on a hill and it towers over them as they walk up the gravel path towards the entrance. They see several people inside the house.
They knock and the seller quickly opens the door. A family with several children is on their way from there. They don't look entirely happy.
The seller shows around the house as it should. There is a lot of really old furniture in the house that feels outdated, but Måns thinks that it can be replaced as needed. Just as it said in the ad, there are brand new appliances in the house and also a brand new boiler.
Both Måns and Elisa fall in love with the house. They already see their future there with grandparents and siblings visiting and also their own accommodation.
The salesman clears his throat and looks at Måns and Elisa and the other speculators and says
- Yes, then it was settled. One thing you should know.
He pauses and clears his throat again
- The family that lived here before felt.. affected by something that was in the house and moved because of it. They wanted me to warn so that others will know the whole thing. Hence the low price. It wasn't mice or anything like that, but something...unknown.
The other family at the house show jokes that maybe they could call the Ghostbusters or something. The salesman nodded and smiled.
Måns shrugs and mutters that ghosts wouldn't be a problem. However, Elisa frowns and doesn't seem to like the whole thing.
Both Måns and Elisa and the other family sign a piece of paper stating that they are interested in buying. The seller promises to get in touch later this week about who will be the final buyer.
Måns sits quietly during the drive home. It is not likely that they will be selected, even if they were the first to call about interest in the house. The other family appeared to be richer than Måns and Elisa. Måns and Elisa were indeed first in line, but Måns' experience was that it didn't always happen that way, especially not if the others had more money to bid with.
Back home, Måns and Elisa watch TV. It is a program about cooking and also how workers worked at sea catching shrimp and crayfish. Both Måns and Elisa find the program interesting.
They go to bed at half past eleven. Before falling asleep, they talk about the house they looked at. Of course it was perfect. You can buy new furniture and throw away the old. Both agree that it will be a good purchase if they win the bidding. In addition, it will be closer for Elisa when she goes to her job.
The next day, Måns looks on Google about the seller. He has a good rating there. Many satisfied buyers. Måns also searches for information about the house itself, but finds very little. A kind of farmer lived there sometime long ago. Many hated the farmer. Perhaps it is the farmer's furniture that remains.
At lunchtime, Måns goes to town to talk to the bank. Måns and Elisa have an account with over 200,000 which he decides will now be used for the house purchase. He transfers the money to his regular account.
Måns takes the opportunity to raise the bid to 170,000 on the seller's website before logging out of his computer. When Elisa comes home, they eat together. Elisa has had a hard day so she is quite tired.
They watch TV for a while before they both go to bed. There are many thoughts and expectations about the house that are spinning in both heads.
The next day, Elisa has a very bad headache and calls in sick. She feels sick from the pain. Måns is there and looks after her with breakfast later in the day when the worst pain has subsided.
Måns also looks at the bidding. The other family has bid up to 175,000. Måns then intends to raise the bid but regrets it. He checks when the bidding ends. It's the next day at eleven o'clock.
Not much else gets done during the day either for Mån or Elisa. The weather is gray and dreary. Otherwise, Måns would probably have gone for a walk, but the weather feels so inhospitable.
In the evening they sit in the kitchen and play cards and listen to the radio. The neighbor above has been playing loud rap music earlier in the day. Måns has thought several times about getting up and asking them to lower the volume but has not done so. Now it's quiet from there.
It has mostly played in the living room, so Elisa hasn't noticed the music that much.
They go to bed at half past ten in the evening. Måns has a hard time relaxing, but eventually he falls asleep.
The next day Elisa feels better and she goes to work at seven o'clock. Måns turns on his computer and checks the bidding. There is no difference from the previous day. He leaves the page open in the browser. He starts by folding laundry that they have washed a few days before.
It is luxurious to have your own washing machine and dryer in the apartment. It is very difficult to get appointments in the communal laundry room because there are many immigrants living in the house who use the machines almost around the clock.
Now if they win, he thinks, you don't have to think about the neighbors in the same way. Måns thinks it would be very nice.
Time drags forward like lead. Måns repeatedly looks at the clock. When the clock is finally almost eleven, Måns walks over to the computer and sits down on his computer chair. When the clock is exactly 10:59, he places his bid of 180,000 and presses enter.
It pings after a few seconds and he gets the message that he won the bidding. Måns jumps for joy and almost succeeds in knocking over his computer chair. He then calls Elisa and tells her the news. She almost screams with happiness into the receiver and Måns knows that this is the best thing he has done.
The seller calls and congratulates the winning bid. Måns and the seller agree on when he can pick up the keys and move in. Already in two days they can start moving in, says the seller. Måns is very happy about this, but at the same time feels that there is a strangely short time before they can move in. As if the seller wants to get it done and forget about the house.
A moment after the salesman and Måns have talked, there is a ringing in Måns' mailbox. He goes into his email and sees an email that seems to be about the house. He clicks on the link and it turns out to be from the other family that bid on the house. They call Måns a lot of nasty things and think he's an idiot. Måns doesn't care too much about that, though.
Elisa comes home just after three o'clock and is very happy. It's been a long time since she was this happy, Måns thinks and smiles back at her.
They decide to eat out today to celebrate the house purchase. After looking at a few different places in town, they end up eating at a Chinese restaurant. This evening they have a buffet, which both Måns and Elisa like. They eat a lot and can hardly bear to go to the car after a few hours.
Once home, they sit on the sofa and watch TV. They make small talk about how it will feel to live in a house of their own. By nine o'clock they go to bed. Måns knows that there will be a lot to do tomorrow.
Måns wakes up sweaty and panting in the middle of the night. He has had a bad dream. Elisa moves next to him but does not wake up. Måns remains and tries to control his breathing and wipe sweat from his forehead. He doesn't really remember what the dream was about, but it was unpleasant anyway. After a while he falls asleep again.
They both wake up to Elisa's ringing bell. Måns fixes breakfast as usual while Elisa showers and gets ready. Elisa thinks that Måns seems quiet at breakfast but does not comment on it.
When Elisa has gone to work, Måns goes into town and transfers the money to the seller. He talks to the people they rent the apartment from. They agree that he will not have to pay for three whole months. Instead, he only needs to pay for an extra month. Måns thinks it sounds very good.
Måns then goes to the store Cheapy and buys a number of moving boxes. There is a lot to unpack.
Back home, Måns starts packing up a lot of things. It's a bit slow at first, but after a while it's almost like a dance. At three o'clock Elisa comes home again. Then Måns has packed a total of four cartons.
Elisa is impressed by how much Måns has managed and they each have a glass of wine and cozy up to each other. Soon they have taken off their clothes and things start to get a little sexual between them.
Suddenly the doorbell rings. Both Måns and Elisa are naked and have no desire to be disturbed at the moment. The doorbell rings again and Måns sighs and puts on his dressing gown and goes to open the front door.
There is no one there, but the stairs are empty. Måns frowns and closes the door. Probably it was one of the newly moved children who wanted to joke.
Måns and Elisa continue to cuddle with each other, but it doesn't feel as good as before. After a while, they put their clothes back on and sit down on the TV couch.
They turn on the TV and watch a documentary about haunted houses. It's an interesting program but neither Måns nor Elisa watch the program that closely. The thoughts are about their own house to which they will very soon move.
Måns and Elisa go to bed at ten in the evening. The next day, Måns will collect the keys from the seller and start moving in. He lies thinking about how it will be. Finally he falls asleep sweetly.
Elisa's clock wakes them both up. Måns almost jumps out of bed and paws into the kitchen to fix things. Elisa doesn't care about showering today but also goes to the kitchen. They eat breakfast and talk about the day. They decide that Måns will pick up Elisa at three and immediately go to the new house and start moving in.
They will have the whole weekend because today is Friday. After Elisa has left, Måns continues to pack things into the boxes. At eleven o'clock he goes to town and collects the key from the seller. It is a special feeling when he gets the key in his hand. It's quite a heavy key but the meaning means so much more that it could have been feather light.
Måns goes to Cheapy again and buys more moving boxes. He goes home again and continues packing. When it's half past three, he takes down most of the boxes and puts them in the trunk of the car. Måns then drives to Elisa's job and together they drive to their new house.
The weather is better this day so the house doesn't tower like the first time they saw it. Måns gives the house key to Elisa. He wants her to open the door for the first time.
The door opens with a slight creak. It smells a bit musty in there but not too much. Both Måns and Elisa enter together. The house looks just as nice as it did at the house showing. There is an empty cider bottle on a table in the kitchen.
Neither Måns nor Elisa were invited to cider, but perhaps the other family had some. Måns puts the bottle in the trash can. They both walk around the house and enjoy what they see.
Måns goes down to the car and collects the first moving box. Elisa has gone upstairs and is checking in which room they will have their bedroom. She finds a room where there is already an older bed and she decides that their bedroom should be there. But first she has to clear the room of a lot of debris and the old bed.
Elisa slowly begins to move the things in the room. Måns comes upstairs and Elisa shows the room and they both agree that it should be the bedroom.
Next to the bedroom is a large bathroom with a really old bathtub that is full-covering and has tiles on the front. The bathtub has no cracks and looks like it can be used without any problems. There are also some old cabinets that look antique.
There is a smaller bathroom further down the hall. It lacks a bathtub but has a walk-in shower. Elisa guesses that Måns likes that bathroom the most.
Next to the large bathroom is a room with many things in it. This is where Elisa puts the things from the bedroom. On a table is an old Tandberg tape recorder with a tape in it. It looks very dusty.
Elisa gets curious and turns on the power to the tape player. She then presses the play button. A creaky voice is heard from the speaker. The voice speaks quickly and indistinctly. Elisa is disappointed that there was no music and turns off the tape player.
Downstairs in the living room is an older vinyl player. Elisa goes downstairs and checks what records are available to listen to. She finds a Little Richard record that she puts on. Little Richard's voice echoes in the house.
Soon Måns and Elisa are done with the room and they go to get more moving boxes. Some of them are placed in the bedroom while others in the living room and also in the kitchen.
When it's half past seven, it's really dark outside. Måns and Elisa work until ten o'clock. Then they go home to the apartment. Both are completely exhausted and fall asleep quickly.
The next day they wake up around nine in the morning. After having breakfast in peace, they continue to put things in the moving boxes. Måns goes and rents a trailer too. They have planned to move in as soon as possible. The neighbor above plays disturbing hip hop music and this makes Måns and Elisa more determined to move from the apartment.
They are help each other to carry the heavy double bed to the trailer. Then it's the sofa's turn and then all the kitchen furniture. After a few hours, the trailer is full and waiting to be driven to the new house. Måns locks the trailer carefully.
At four o'clock in the day, everything is unpacked and they start cleaning their apartment. It is quick to clean and they are already ready at half past seven in the evening. They lock the apartment and take out the last of their garbage and throw it in the garbage room.
Once at the house, they start unloading everything. They are helped to put the double bed in the bedroom. It is really heavy. The sofa is also heavy but not as bulky but they help with that too. Måns takes most of the kitchen furniture alone, while Elisa takes in the moving boxes.
It's dark outside but the work inside continues. When it is around half past twelve, Elisa and Måns decide to go to bed. When Elisa brushes her teeth in the large bathroom, she hears something strange. Little funny noises are heard from somewhere. She shrugs and continues brushing.
The next day they continue unpacking. They have taken down the old bed and put it plus some other old furniture in the trailer. At lunchtime, Måns goes to the tip and throws away what is in the trailer. Then he buys Chinese food, which they eat together at home in the kitchen. It's a very nice kitchen and they snuggle with each other.
Elisa has played several old vinyl records that she liked when she was young. She still likes some of the artists. Måns has also liked most of the records played during the day. Towards evening, however, he feels tired in the head and falls asleep in front of the TV.
Elisa wakes Måns at ten o'clock and together they go to bed. Elisa brushes her teeth before going to bed. Even this evening she hears something strange in the wall or somewhere. She calls out to Måns to come and listen. When Måns arrives, the sounds have quieted down and he hears nothing special. They go to bed.
The next day is Monday and Måns is going with some friends between Monday and Wednesday. Elisa will be alone on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She thinks it's a shame but says nothing. They say goodbye to each other and go to their respective cars.
During the following days, Elisa works as usual and is very satisfied. It is only the large bathroom that she feels a problem with.
It's great but over the next few days Elisa starts to feel increasingly uncomfortable in there. It's just like you're never alone in there: there are small, almost imperceptible sounds in the walls, just like she heard the first evening, and she feels constantly watched.
On Wednesday, when Måns comes home, she asks Måns to come to the big bathroom. She tries to explain how uncomfortable she feels there. They start checking the bathroom a little more thoroughly than before.
Suddenly, Måns shouts and points to a point next to the bathtub. He points to a small door in the wall, easy to miss because it's down by the floor and painted the same color as the wall. The color sinks into the frame. The homeowner has probably painted over the door at some point.
Elisa thinks that the strange noises she heard inside the bathroom end up in a different light now that they have found a door that the homeowner apparently wanted to hide.
Måns grabs the small handle and begins to pull and tear at the door with all his might. Then he takes out a small pocketknife, which he runs along the painted over cracks next to the door. Within a few minutes, a creak is heard, and Måns manages to pull the door open.
Inside, a crawl space reveals itself. It is quite large, one would surely crawl in quite a few in there. The kids will absolutely love this. Elisa thinks it's strange why this little room has been sealed off like this. Måns thinks the whole thing is very exciting. It smells damp and a bit moldy inside. Elisa puts some blankets that are never used in the space and closes the small door.
They go down to the kitchen and each have a cup of tea. Elisa continues to talk about her experiences around the bathroom, but Måns doesn't think it's anything special. He believes that older houses often have a little noise and that it is nothing to worry about.
Elisa wonders if it's rats or mice but there were no animal droppings in the space so it probably wasn't.
Later in the evening, Elisa's grandmother calls. She is curious about the new house they have moved into. It is decided when grandma will come to see the house. It will be on Saturday because Elisa is busy at work until three o'clock and because on Saturday she is completely free.
At half past ten they turn on the TV and watch a bit. The program is not that interesting but they watch anyway. At eleven o'clock they go upstairs to bed. Måns goes to the small bathroom and brushes his teeth. He hums a song and Elisa thinks she recognizes the song but can't remember what the song is called.
While Elisa is brushing her teeth, a sound is heard that makes the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Something rustles softly. It sounds like someone pushed a pile of textiles aside. Elisa stands still and listens, involuntarily terrified. After comparing the direction of the sound with possible sources for a while, she concludes that the sound is coming from the crawl space.
She shivers and carefully opens the door but sees nothing special inside. One of the blankets seems to have moved a little but otherwise no change. She closes the door again and goes to bed.
When she enters the bedroom, the bad feeling disappears completely. Måns looks up from his book and Elisa crawls down next to him and suddenly realizes the name of the song Måns hummed to. She smiles at him and says the name of the song.
It was the song Linger with Cranberries. They have a crazy memory of that song. It was often played on their first US trip in the mid-90s. The trip was good but also incredibly difficult because things didn't go as they wanted. Already on the flight to the USA there were concerns. Elisa thinks it's a little inappropriate to hum it now considering the space and how Elisa feels in the bathroom. Måns grins and thinks she worries too much.
They turn off the light and talk in a low voice. Elisa has almost fallen asleep when she hears a gentle creak. She tries not to care at first but she gets annoyed by the sound.
It sounds like, the sound is coming from the bathroom. Elisa sighs loudly and turns on the lamp inside. She jumps high in fright. The small door is wide open. Elisa had carefully closed the small door in the wall. Yet it is wide open now. There is a strange smell coming from there too.
She slams the door shut and rushes to Måns. She tries to wake him up but he doesn't quite wake up. Elisa feels uncomfortable about this now. Something is really wrong with that little door. After a little while, she makes up her mind and goes back into the bathroom and once again closes the small door but puts the laundry basket in front of the small door. She then goes back to bed. Sleep comes quickly.
The next day, Måns is very tired and can't bear to be company at breakfast. Elisa eats in silence. She intends to talk to a friend at work today who has some experience with unknown things.
Once at work, there is plenty to do. Elisa barely has time to take her first break. However, the thoughts are mostly about the space in the bathroom and the strange sounds. Her coworkers think she is quieter than she usually is. At lunchtime there is not as much to do.
Elisa then takes the chance to talk to her friend Sophia about the space they just found and the sounds she heard.
Sophia is very good at explaining things that seem supernatural but have natural causes.
Sophia wonders if there is a picture of the crawl space. If she gets to see what it looks like, she might be able to understand the circumstances better and be more helpful. Elisa is relieved that she at least wanted to listen to what she had to say
Back home, Elisa takes her camera and goes to the bathroom. She finds to her relief that the small door is still closed. Måns comes to the bathroom and wonders what she should do with the camera. Elisa explains a little to him about what she is going to do. He thinks the whole thing is absurd and leaves.
Elisa pulls the door open and sticks her camera inside. It looks the same in there as it did yesterday. She takes three pictures and then closes the space. She goes to the laptop that is in the bedroom and plugs in the camera and transfers the images. The first two images show nothing interesting at all. But when the third image appears, Elisa freezes in horror.
In the upper left corner of the picture you can clearly see a demonic face. It has its lips parted in an aggressive expression, and has large fangs. She starts shaking. Something evil is in our home. It looks horrible.
The thoughts begin to race. Someone has locked this creature, whatever it is, in the hatch and we've let it out. Elisa almost starts to cry in horror at what she sees in the picture.
Elisa pulls herself together and goes to pick up Måns. She shows him the first two pictures and he thinks it's all silly, but then she shows him the third picture and tells him to look at it carefully. He also sees the demonic face, but doesn't quite know what to make of it all.
Måns goes to get a flashlight and goes to the big bathroom. He opens the small hatch and shines the flashlight. There doesn't seem to be anything strange there. After a while he kneels down and begins to make his way into the space.
It seems that the space on the left side further in turns into a narrow tunnel. He can't get in between there. Maybe it goes around the house somehow. When Måns looks at the right side, he sees that there is also like a tunnel further in. It is therefore possible to crawl from the right side to the left, but then you have to be really thin.
Måns switches off the flashlight and eels out of the room. He tells Elisa about the tunnel and says that nothing big can be there. Elisa thinks about whether demons or supernatural beings can fit in there, but Måns doesn't believe in such nonsense, he says. He closes the hatch firmly and shrugs.
However, Elisa intends to show the picture to Sophia tomorrow. She might know more. They go down to the kitchen and eat food. Then they listen to Vaya Con Dios and enjoy. Måns takes a glass of wine which he offers to Elisa. She doesn't normally like wine but she thinks this was good.
After a while, they are both drunk and laughing about a lot of incidents that happened to them. They laugh mostly about the USA trip when everything went wrong. Suddenly everything goes out and goes silent. It is pitch black outside and they look at each other questioningly. Måns goes and gets the flashlight and checks the fuses. They are whole.
As he stands there, he becomes aware of a funny sound. He can't describe it but it sounds strange. He shines his flashlight around but finds nothing special. Elisa shouts about something from upstairs. Måns goes up from the basement.
She stands and looks out towards the other houses. They are also completely dark. They assume that it must simply be a power outage. Måns takes out some candles which he lights and displays in a few places in the house.
When Måns gets to the large bathroom upstairs, he stops. The door is wide open and one of the blankets is on the bathroom floor. Måns doesn't really know how to deal with this situation. He starts to put the blanket back in. The power comes back on and he looks at the blanket in the glow of the bright bathroom light.
There are long marks like after something hard on the blanket. There have been holes in it. With a little imagination, you can see that it has been torn with sharp claws. Måns shivers and closes the door again. He puts the laundry basket in front. He tells Elisa nothing about his find. She would be too cut up about it.
Måns promises himself that tomorrow he has to deal with this. He knows someone who works with supernatural beings and intends to call the person in the morning. He guesses that it was these oddities that the seller wanted to inform about. But he's not going to give in to some strange haunting. Rather the opposite. The whole thing makes him frustrated and angry.
Elisa notices his dark mood when he comes downstairs. He does not tell what he saw. They continue to listen to Vaya Con Dios but it is as if they are both lost in their own thoughts.
At half past eleven they get up and go to bed. Elisa notes that the laundry basket is in front of the door again but does not comment on it. They fall asleep quite quickly even if they feel anxious.
When they wake up the next morning, they eat breakfast together as they usually are. They are both in good spirits. Elisa goes to her car at half past eight and drives to her job. She has saved the photos on a USB stick so that they will be easier to show to Sophia.
At home, Måns has found the number of his friend, whose name is Alexander. Måns calls Alexander but no one answers. Måns speaks into the answering machine that he wants Alexander to call as soon as possible. Then he goes upstairs.
The laundry basket is still in front of the door. He pulls it away towards the corner and opens the hatch. The blanket with the tear marks is still in the same place. Måns grabs the blanket and unfolds it. There are only marks on the top side but in some places the damage has gone through the bottom layer.
Måns tries to tear himself with his nails, but the fabric is rough and nothing happens. He takes out a smaller pair of scissors used for nails. He drags it over the blanket and there are small marks, but not as big as what is on the blanket. Whatever made the marks must have strong claws or something.
Måns sits and thinks for a while. Then he gets an idea. He calls the police and says he suspects someone may be living in the space. The police agree to send a staff member to check the situation. It doesn't take long until there is a police car outside the house. Måns and the police shake hands.
They then go upstairs. Måns shows the hatch and the blanket and also that you can crawl in there. The police crawl in and shine their bright flashlight. He also drags a thin piece of paper on the floor. Any dirt or other things that can be examined are then saved on the paper. However, the paper is almost completely white when he looks at it when he exits the space.
Måns is both relieved and worried about the whole thing. Now they know it can't be anyone stuck in there anyway. The police say thank you and go to the station. Måns gets a number if he needs to call again.
Måns is about to go downstairs and clean. He looks into the room where all the things are. His gaze is drawn to the old tape recorder and the band sitting in it. He turns on the tape and listens. It is an elderly man who speaks in a heated voice. You don't get a good idea of what it is about.
Måns reverses the tape from the beginning and hears the same elderly man talking. It is easier to understand what he is saying.
Those who will live here will be driven out of their wits by my demon. I have created him myself through evil writings. He shall serve me forever. Massi must show those who decide here. Its home is under the space I carefully built just for this purpose. Eventually the new guests will discover the loophole and set him free and they will have themselves to blame. Maybe someone will die but it doesn't matter. Humanity is not something I like, but I like Massi
The conversation is interrupted by several raw laughs. Måns feels the anger boiling inside him. If the person was still alive, Måns would have beaten him to death. Not that it would have helped.
At Elisa's job, there is not much to do. Sophia is very late today. Her one child is sick and she cannot start work until her husband comes home at one o'clock. Elisa meets her outside at the parking lot.
Sophia is surprised. Elisa is usually never so eager to talk to her that she meets her outside. They both go into the office and Elisa inserts the USB stick into the computer. She shows the three pictures.
Sophia is visibly shaken when she sees the third picture. She is relatively certain that the demon in the picture is called Massi. It is a very aggressive and dangerous demon. Sophia warns Elisa that something bad will happen if they don't get a demon exterminator or something.
Elisa has never heard of anyone before. Sophia shows online where she can get in touch with one. It turns out there is one in the neighboring town. Elisa writes down the number and name on a piece of paper. She will give Måns the note when she gets home.
Meanwhile at home, Måns has calmed down after listening to the band. Now Måns is preparing food that they will eat when Elisa gets home. He has a record of the Eagles' best songs. The fan is also on high enough so that the fire alarm will not go off. Måns suddenly feels watched. He turns around but sees no one there but thinks it's strange.
He goes back to the stove when something happens behind him. He turns around and sees….
Elisa has got into the car and is on her way home. There is a long queue at one of the side roads that she has to drive on. She gets annoyed by it and angrily hoots at someone who tries to push in. After a while the traffic flows better.
Elisa is at the house at a quarter past three. She goes up the stairs and sees that there is already a lot of stew in the hall. She goes in and shouts at Måns to turn on the fan more. A vinyl record is playing in the background. It's stuck in the groove and nags hotel, hotel all the time. One of their favorite Eagles songs. Elisa gets annoyed and removes the needle from the disc and goes out into the kitchen.
She stands in the opening and screams right out. Måns is on the floor. He is injured and his face is badly torn. There is a lot of blood on the floor. Elisa turns off the stove with the nearly burnt food. Hons sobs and calls his name over and over but gets no reaction.
Elisa pulls herself together and picks up the phone and calls the ambulance. She doesn't know what happened but it doesn't look good. She sees that right away. It doesn't take long for the ambulance to arrive. They pick up Måns on a stretcher.
Elisa follows along in the ambulance. Once at the hospital, they carry him into a room and wash him off. Looks like he fell into a coma or something. Elisa decides to stay and see when he gets better.
Elisa walks over to the hospital's canteen to buy food and eat there. She sees a delicious lasagna which she eats quickly. The thoughts constantly go to Måns and his injuries.
Once back at the infirmary, she stays until ten o'clock. A nurse comes and tells her she can't stay the night. Elisa gets angry but understands what the staff mean. There is no free place for her.
Elisa sighs deeply and goes home. She does not use the large bathroom. She locks herself and also the large bathroom. Then she goes to bed.
At two o'clock in the morning, Elisa wakes up. She hears a creaking door in the house and there are quick footsteps. They come closer, this time clearly and firmly focused on the door to the bedroom. It's quiet outside the door, but Elisa thinks she can hear someone or something breathing outside.
She sits up in bed, and is frozen with fear. She looks over at the door and sees that it is unlocked. Elisa is quite sure that she locked the door, but now it is open.
Elisa understands that the demon is outside the door but she doesn't know what to do. She considers whether to hide under the covers and hope for the best.
The door handle moves and the door slides open. Elisa sees a figure in the doorway. The demon appears to have a gray-blue color and its eyes appear yellow. The demon has teeth but no lips, making its face look like a desiccated corpse. It has no nose and its skin appears to be moist. Elisa sees all this and trembles.
After standing still and watching Elisa in the doorway for a while, the demon begins to move towards her. Its legs make crunching noises. It's a nasty sound and Elisa reacts with disgust.
The demon breathes very loudly. The air is filled with a sickly sour stench. Elisa chokes from the smell. With a sudden tremendous speed, the demon jumps from the foot of the bed to the side of Elisa's bed. The demon is only half a meter away from her.
The demon extends one of its hands towards Elisa and she screams for her life. She screams so loud it hurts her throat. The demon crouches down and gets on all fours. It hisses at Elisa. That gives her an idea.
Elisa becomes furious and jumps up from the bed and hits the demon's head with a heavy book. She then screams at it; this is our house, get out of here. The demon doesn't budge. Elisa walks towards it and walks away towards the large bathroom.
The demon enters the space. Elisa takes out a match and lights it on fire. The demon seems to back away from the fire. Elisa has seen a baseball bat in the room with so many things written on it. She walks towards it but does not let go of the demon with her gaze. Finally she gets the hang of it. She holds it in front of her like a shield.
The demon hisses at her again but she forces it out of the space and down the stairs. She manages to hit it a few times. Finally she is at the entrance. She takes out several matches plus a mechanical lighter. Elisa forces the demon out onto the stairs.
She catches fire on a stick and throws it at the demon. Its scream echoes in the air. Elisa sets several more sticks on fire and throws them at the demon. She also catches fire on a newspaper which burns well.
She throws all this at the beast that disturbed them and injured Måns.
The demon's screams echo in the night and several lights are lit in the nearby houses.
Sirens can be heard from somewhere nearby. The demon seems to run away but Elisa kicks it again and again and it starts bleeding. She hits it with the baseball bat too.
Its appearance is terrible. It also smells worse now than it did before. She strikes one last at the demon and its head appears to break. It sinks to the ground and doesn't move anymore. Elisa makes a victory cry and dances around. After a short while, she sinks to her knees and shakes uncontrollably.
A neighbor comes running. The neighbor helps Elisa up. He wonders what the demon in the street is. In time, he will get an answer, but right now Elisa wants to go to sleep and celebrate that she won the battle.
Further down the street you see several police cars on their way.
ONE WEEK LATER
Måns has come home from the hospital. He woke up some day after the demon died, He told that the demon attacked him in the kitchen. The hospital staff find it hard to believe him. The body of the demon was quickly whisked away by the police and no one knows where it has gone since. The old tape also disappeared along with the body.
Elisa never had to go to the hospital but she has spoken to a psychologist about her experiences.
Mån's friend Alexander has been in the house and "cleaned" away bad energies. Nowadays it is nice to live there.
Måns and Elisa have had their relatives visit and everyone has congratulated them. Life is playing again and what more could you ask for.
