For a friend in pain.At the bottom, so black it was,
but a lilting breeze took up my cause;
and I climbed the heights with lifting gaze
as trumpets did sound and sun did blaze;
and, fierce the wind, did embolden my soul
to look upon the horizon anew
and see all the beauty that life had grew
while I was alone at the bottomless pit;
now I see that were I truly alone,
the sky would not be blue
nor the breeze warm
nor the waves eternal
nor the sun diurnal
nor my life sparked,
and the flying lark
would never have taken to skies so old
so wonderfully new.

and, fierce the wind, did embolden my soul

and see all the beauty that life had grew
