The results of combat, "you win some, you lose some." Jinjur lost the duel to Kathy in that same colosseum, and so Kathy became Heir and Jinjur was out on her ear. Now Jinjur works for her rival, who saved her from execution for treason by offering her the job of Vorthy.

They're actually, at this point, in-universe, cobbled together since she named her honor guard only the day before. They'll be gettin official uniforms in the near future. I really should have made Murphy wear her usual scarlet tunic because it's what is made to fit her, but I forgot to do that.
They are all wearing the gorget distinguishing them as advisors to the Duchess (and her Heir.)
Fred is wearing the red of Blood and Bone, with an ivory cap because he is transferring to the staff of the Heir. He traded in his aiglet signifying he's an Adjutant to the Duchess for a sash in the ivory color of the Heir. He still has two pips on his epaulettes, however, which also mean he's on the staff of the Commander (Songween.)
Sandy is wearing the red uniform because Kathy has not named her one of her Vorthies, so she is on Songween's staff now.
The other four are wearing ivory frock coat uniforms with scarlet breeches, which is the livery of the Heir. The Heirs' colors are opposite those of their Duchess--the way sports teams have "home" and "away" uniforms. Blood and Bone is scarlet with ivory trim. The Heir's livery therefore is ivory with scarlet trim.

Fred is on Songween's personal staff, her secretary as it were, and he is going to switch over to Kathy's staff. Of course, it's merely a ceremonial detail, since he really runs the country in Songween's name.

Jinjur was in The Black Watch, was thrown out due to her treason, was condemned to be executed, and Kathy "rescued" her. So she immediately wears her colors, too.
Jade is not part of the military, she's a private citizen.

oh so basically they where all relived from their fonction at the exception of Fred due to his important position.
as for jinjur... didn't she have some rank left? oh right that was before treason was established, wait Kathy own the black watch shouldn't she have those colours or... does that mean the black watch will have dress code change?

Well, the Watch doesn't belong to Jinjur, it belongs to her younger sister, Violante, who is Lady of Clan Olnajine. Violante pointed this out during Jinjur's trial, and the Empress conceded the point--although she later told Kathy that she could have taken the Watch and the Dominator away from the Maiham family if she had insisted upon doing so.

Yes. Actually, he was organizing Songween's papers, and saw all the treaties the Brigade had made over the years which required their clients to go to war if they were attacked. The clans of the two competing heirs, Jinjur and Vyschuss, had vowed to go to war if either one was chosen over the other. If the Black watch and the Lily Guard went to war, they would call in their allies, and the civil war in Rackenroon would spill over onto the world stage.
