Mercury loves nothing more than going to beaches and resorts when he's off duty and Mona 3 often likes to visit (and be part of) a surf shop run by a Dewott named Fudo and an Alola Raichu. Mercury enters the shop amd sees many flattened pokemon surfboards, much to his chuckle.
What caught his attention made hum smirk which was Mona 3 who was recently flattened and pressed into a surfboard (for fun).

Mercury asked if he can have the meowboard (he's off Mercenary work, but still a bodyguard). Fudo knows Mercury a gambler so made him a deal, surf all day and keep Kimo dry amd he can have the meowboard, lose and he keeps the board and the duo become temporary part of Inventory.
Mercury chose the meowboard and began paddling out. Already showing mastery of his wave skills (he had experience in hurricanes). Mercury surfed from sunlight till sundown and kimo was still dry.

Fudo admitted defeat and let Mercury keep the meowboard (till Mona does it again). Fudo decided to close shop early and show water bird how to really master those waves.
