A few bonus sketches of some unposted stuff with Rhelki.
1. This was actually the first drawing of hers. It might be difficult to see, but she actually has four tails in it. This was before I had put together her story and so I was envisioning her as a older and more mature kitsune than Kaj. As I worked on her more she became a younger, yet still more mature kitsune than Kaj... not like that is saying much.
2. The second sketch I ever did of Rhelki. She's yelling at Kaj over something. No idea what, but I'm sure he deserves it.
3. This was actually the original sketch for this piece. Once I did all of the wall portraits I was not very happy with it so I went back and completely redid it for the one that is currently used in the picture.
4. Another early sketch of her. This was me trying to do something a bit more zoomed in and some early concept details for her earrings.
5. A rejected outfit from working on her ref sheet. This actually ended up being split into two separate outfits in the final version. One with the jacket that ended up being extended farther and another with the pants and a fancier shirt.
6. This was something I sketched up while working on the ref sheet as a joke. I know I needed some foot paw references and so I took my sketch of the paw and extended it.

I'm going to be that person, I really like the short-jacket and general outfit design in number five, it kind of has a classic 1930's pilot aesthetic.
Oh and given she is in a modern setting and especially from number six, are there furries in her world? They'd really go nuts for actual Kitsunes.

I liked it too. My friend told me that he felt it "didn't fit the character" which I kind of agree as it kind of has a grungier feel than I was going for which is why I ended up changing it.
I feel like there's stuff like furries, but it probably is not the same with anthros actually being real things in the world. Like Felix was a human into non-humans and I am sure there are non-humans who feel the same way about humans. I just imagine it has a different vibe and runs more afoul of people who dislike interspecies relationships. Still, the idea of feet pics (or in this case paw pics) extends beyond furry space and so I am sure there'd be plenty of folks into it.

That's something I haven't fully considered and mapped out, but I generally see it more of a regional thing. So for example, I mentioned that Felix (before he changed reality) was from the Republic of Mesinda which I envision to be almost entirely human with smaller enclaves of non-humans here and there throughout it. But then in other areas there are essentially no humans to be found. The kitsune in particular have a pretty weird life cycle as I have mentioned which is why they tend to be pretty uncommon and do not have any areas that they dominate.
This is also why I kind of want to put a world map together to try and help me figure all of this out. I find having physical locations that I can point at helps me personally rather than just having some nebulous blobs of where things might be in my head.
