Kyle showed Bradley just as he did with Remy.
Bradley climbed aboard and held on tight. Kyle held on to his foot to keep him from floating away.
When a large wave came rolling towards them, Bradley kicked and paddled as hard as he could.
Soon he was on top of the surf, the wave pushing him forward. However, before he could reach the shore, Bradley dipped backwards and disappeared under the water.
After the wave crashed, he popped back up to the surface and staggered back on the shore, carrying his board with him.
"Are you alright?" Remy asked running up to him.
"Yeah," said Bradley coughing. He slapped some water out of his wilting ears. "I couldn't get up all the way. I lost my grip and fell over backward. It was my fault."
He handed Remy the small surfboard. "Anyway, it's your turn."
Remy paddled back out to Kyle, ready to try again.
"Alright," said Kyle. "When you reach the top of the wave, pull up your nose, meaning your front, upwards. This will allow it to carry you forward."
Remy nodded. "Got it."
He climbed back on the board and looked out for any more waves approaching.
He didn't want to go too far out, for fear of being caught in the rip current.
He tried to ride whichever wave he could reach, but had no luck.
Remy was ready to go back to shore and give Bradley another shot when he suddenly heard Kyle.
"Hey!" he cried out. "Look right behind you!"
Remy turned around to see a huge wave hurling itself right at him.
Remy swallowed his terror and paddled as hard as he could away from the enormous wall of water.
The wave swept him up and carried him towards the beach.
Remembering what Bradley told him, Remy pulled the front of the board upward and held on tight.
It was then that Remy realized he was riding atop the huge wave.
The wave lurched forward, sweeping him onto the shore and up the beach like a torpedo.
No sooner had he gotten up, he heard cheering. He turned around to see Bradley running up to him. Kyle followed from behind.
"You did it, Remy!" cried Bradley. "That was an awesome landing."
Kyle threw an arm around him. "I knew you could do it," he laughed. "You were great."
Remy smiled. "Thanks guys," he said. "That sure was quite a ride."
"I'll bet," laughed Bradley.
Throughout the morning, Remy, Bradley and Kyle continued on with their fun in the water. Soon Remy's parents joined in. They were both very impressed with his surfing experience.
By one o'clock, it was time to pack up and go home. Remy and his friends were exhausted by then.
As they made their way home, Remy was overwhelmed with a sense of pride over his surfing.
Soon he nodded off to sleep, as did his friends, with the beach already far behind them.
