Well I had this idea for a PSA mascot kind of character that came from me realizing how there are very little outlets for education to young people about internet safety. I kept imagining him suddenly ending up in this teenager’s room to find out that he lives in a dysfunctional family where the dad crashes on the couch after work and sleeps for the rest of the evening while the mom is constantly stressed out and just gives her young daughter her phone just to get her out of hair. (which is shown later on to be one of the internet threats that need to be thwarted) And then he finds out this teenager is using the internet to escape being a part of his family and is talking with this “friend” on a social media site called “Chaos” and then he starts asking him some very inappropriate questions as well as for inappropriate pictures. (the online “friend” claimed to be 16 like he was) Codey then steps in to make it clear those were red flags and he shouldn’t have to give him those answers or pictures. He also points out that people lie about their age all the time and it’s not usually wise to take people’s word about their age online. They then go downstairs to find this teen’s little sister addicted to what she’s watching on their phone screen. Codey tells him to get that phone away from his child and points out that she’s kicking and screaming because she’s addicted to the videos she keeps getting on their phone. And apparently, there’s a shadowy villain that makes these videos and purposefully makes them as addictive as possible to neglected small kids because it has given him insane amounts of money and therefore, power and influence over others. But since Codey is fighting against that as his job, he wants to get rid of him. So he sends a bunch of henchmen after him after he finds out which house he’s at. And they try to get to Codey while the teenager (Yes, I don’t know what to call him yet) tries to reach out to his younger sister who is still kicking and screaming from her phone being taken away. It all ends with Codey out witting the henchmen and the teen finally getting her sister to snap out of it by showing her her favorite toy. It then leads to the entire family gathered around the table to listen to Codey’s advice about being not only safe when using the internet, but also to remember that as a family, they need to look out for each other and have a strong connection with one another. And then Codey then says goodbye and leaves for the next person that will need his help.
Wow yeah, I was not expecting to fill as much space as I did.
