This project was an experiment in new techniques for painting, particularly to reduce bubbles by sanding and to use tape to protect colors I want to keep while I spray on new colors. While I love the Nerf Recon platform It does have a lot of redundant "Safety" features, but those are easily removed. The trigger, Plunger and barrel have been replaced by parts from Orange Mod Works and I tried to upgrade the main spring but It proved so be too much for the blaster to take. Regardless, it fires better now than it does compared to my stock Recons.

Very cool!
Only time I did anything like that was when I "modified" a bb gun into a poor attempt at a Warhammer 40K lasgun. I took the main spring out to make it safe, cut the magazine down and sprayed it (and the stock) silver and added a bit of cut plastic for the slanted barrel.
