When I was younger, I was sort of disappointed by a majority of canon starter Pokemon and decided to create my own region with my own starter Pokemon. The region's local professor was a woman named Prof. Willow and she would give you a choice of these three Pokemon when you began your journey.

Platypuddl - platypus pokemon
Females are water type, males are dual water and poison - gender percentages were switched for this species (87.5% chance at getting female, 12.5% chance of getting male)

Charcowl - fire owl pokemon
Begins as fire type - later evolutions are dual fire/dark. Strong physical, low special. Moves like fire punch, shadow punch etc.

Floraly - meditation pokemon
Photosynthesises as it meditates - dual grass and psychic pokemon. High special, low physical. Moves like confusion, solar-beam etc.

I never really bothered making the evolutions. I still rather like them.
I may recolour these to be 'shiny' when I get back from the movies ^^
