Marhutz Kanagh is a disillusioned graduate of the esteemed Magician's Academy. When he came of age, he left his family in the far north with the goal of honing his psychic abilities. But having found the academy's teachings not to be as enlightening as he had hoped, he politely turned down the offers to stay as a staff member in light of his achievements as a student, and took up cooking as his preferred occupation.
Though his skills in both the kitchen and in telekinesis (he uses it to keep the restaurant at which he works tidy) have earned him satisfaction in his work and admiration and respect from his coworkers and customers, he feels lonely.
Arofa Eadith is a wandering wild-woman raised by a flock of krassau* nomads in the jungles of the southern continent. Her biological mother and father were a bandit duo on the run from the law. Her father was killed by a mob when she was an infant, her mother died a few weeks later from wounds suffered during her escape, but not before finding a flock who would rase the "furry-hatchling-not-hatchling," Eadith to adulthood.
Once she had come to maturity, she left her adoptive Avian family in search of the company of her own species, living by the deep understanding of Krassau magic she had been raised with along the way.
The two met when she offered, to his relief, to deliver a precious thing left by a pair of customers on their way out to its wayward owners, who were a long way away by the time Kanagh had discovered they had lost it.
Over the next few days, the two grew interested in one another, then entranced, then enamored, then fell in love and conceived two pups; much to Kan's surprise as he was not aware Eadith was running on a reversed estrus cycle, only recently having traveled from across the equator.
So what makes these two reckless youths the best parents ever? Well, the pups they conceived were Tamahn and Nahmat, so they'd have to at least be a smidgin more than fantastic given how they turned out after the two had raised them.
*The krassau are a nomadic species of sapient bird-like beings of tropical origin. They are regarded by the vroknaär and myarighn with reverence similar to humans' regard for the mythical dragons.
Happy late Valentine's day, everyone!
