Since it was my last week in Canada, I thought I should take advantage of being in close proximity to a Sega Saturn, and decided to play through the first two Panzer Dragoon games. Afterwards I decided that wansn't quite enough to satisfy my need for laser spitting hell beasts, so I also watched the hilariously bad OVA afterwards, which in turn inspired this.
So ayup, it's the Black Dragon. I MEAN. "DRAH-GON" according to Keil. The design is a weird mix of the model from the game, and how it was portrayed in the OVA (I actually really like how the dragons look in that, fff), although he should be WAAAY bulkier :C OH WELL.
Oh, and the speed-painted background is based on episode 6. IT LOOKED THAT PUTRID GREEN ON MY TV, OKAY?

And... to be honest? I have no idea what it is. All the dragons in the series are armored like that, but it's kind of ambiguous as to what it actually is. In Orta, it gets damaged and kind of flakes off so I guess it's some kind of bio-armor that isn't exactly bone.

The OVA is so... good-bad. They couldn't have chosen worse voice actors, and I couldn't be happier because of that. Otherwise we wouldn't have such memorable dialogue as "So this is what. The Sky. Feels like." or yes, "ALIIITAAAA" over and over again, ahaha.

Saaame. I love his jet... THINGIES. WHATEVER THEY ARE, THEY'RE NEAT.
And shit, yeah. Both those battles are awesome, especially the one against Abadd's mare... even if it took me forever to figure out, ahurr. I actually almost drew the Dark Dragon after he entered the tower, because I love that form so much, but I lacked refs.

That was me for YEARS. In fact, as a kid I wanted to play Orta SO BAD I... I made a comic about what I thought it might be like. Yeah, I was uh... really cool.
And then I finally got to play it, and the other games, and was like "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?"

I just finished playing both Zwei and Saga recently. A wonderful experience I must say. This draggy resembles the spiritual class of the solo wing, which in turn was based on the dark dragon from the original. Either that or Orta's dragon. It's always nice to see panzer fan art as the series is seriously under appreciated.
