Finally assembled my first (and probably? last) gunpla model. Been meaning to get this one because God Gundam is the best unit, period. Whoever thought putting screws into a model kit was a good idea is a fucking sadist, but overall I'm pleased with the outcome.
Skipped some stickers and used a liner to fill in the shoulder pad and thigh armor channels, as well as some details on feet and face.
I know my friend
TomierLanely would've loved to see this if he was still alive, as he was a huge gunpla nut back in the day....he even planned to send me a few model kits before he unfortunately passed away.
Wherever you are buddy, this one is a tribute to you.

He passed away suddenly in June 2021. I'm not privy to details but few months before his passing he told me he was suffering kidney failure and would have to be undergoing dialysis treatment. I'm guessing it caught up with him before he could do anything about it.
Nuuuuubs!
Joking aside, for the time (2001) it was a good kit. The screws were supposed to help keep the joints tight, but they didn't work as intended over time- you could tighten the screws a bit when they started to loosen, but the joint could eventually crack if you overtightened them. (And polycap hands on a MG? What were they thinking with that?) They also came out with a couple of LED God Finger add-ons (from Ban-Dai's HY2M series, http://dalong.net/reviews/etc/hyh16/hyh16.htm and http://dalong.net/reviews/etc/hyh17/hyh17.htm ) to improve the detail. If you want a God Gundam kit these days, either get the 1/100 HiRes version (it's a bit pricy, though), or the 1/144 RG version (there is a Premium Bandai exclusive effect set- http://dalong.net/reviews/cg/cgr65/cgr65_i.htm , and a third-party LED set for it- https://youtu.be/Tl9bYNKKybU ).
