"What's up?"
No texts, no calls, nothing -- their teammate's disappearance concerned them greatly not just because he was their friend but it just so happened to coincide with the next splatfest. After the vicious beating they got for aligning themselves with strawberry, they were really were hoping to get a lot more practice in... and yet their buddy was nowhere to be found.
"Nothing, just... this bootleg-ass knockoff reefslider he has," the male octo indicated the reefslider to a nearby friend who let out a snort.
"Aww but its kinda cute!" The inkling woman exclaimed; lifting the inflatable shark up and holding it above her head. In the inflatable's opinion he was much too close to the ceiling fan spinning above... not that he had any way of indicating that. "If it's a bootleg, it must be a good one. He's damn good at turf either way."
M-mmf...
"Did you say something?"
"No?"
Mercifully she lowered the reefsider back down onto the futon of the one-room apartment. It was 'stereotypically Japanese' in the sense that the occupant was willing to sleep on the floor with a futon if it meant he could afford more crap.
"Looks like him... or the expression does at least," The third and only other non-cephalopod teammate - a blue sea dragon slug - let out his own snort. "Might've been a custom thing he got... being a shark and all."
"... Grab 'em." The octo says while glancing at his watch and nodding to the reefslider. "And a few of his other weapons, too. I'm just gonna @ 'em on chat and say we're just waiting for him and dropped them off in his locker. I wanna hurry up and get there before all the youngin's wake up and make the lobby hell. You still remember his combination?"
"Forty Twenty Seven--Er," The female inkling made a face and rolled her eyes; making airquotes. "Sorry, 'sixty-nine'."
"... Fuckin' dork. Let's go; I wanna try out that bootleg piece of shit."
