September Carnival had become obsessed, unable to think of anything else but the idea of nonexistence between her revels. Paranoia, fear, and spite had crept into her carefree and hedonistic personality. It had become a poison in her artificial veins, turning mischief into cruelty and passion into rage. It was his fault of course. Not only had the administrator always had access to the terminus code, the fool had the hubris to try crafting a vessel to contain it. Her soulless "little brother" had been the catalyst for the end of the old order and the dawn of her creeping madness. July Fantasia was unwise to deviate from her role in the system but for a goddess to be so cruelly dispatched had wounded the whole pantheon. And what was it all for? To help their unfeeling monster of a "little brother" find some appreciation for life when all he existed to do was end it?
It was too much to countenance and she wouldn't let that lingering threat hang over her head. Carnival would take it all for herself. With the prodigal son her prisoner she could siphon and absorb the terminus code one strand at a time. The result would be corruption. Distortion. The unpredictable interaction between her original domain of lust and festivity and the power of raw destruction. But it would be worth it. She would do ANYTHING to persist and take the power of death for her own, stopping it from ever being turned on her. With the same lack of restraint and hesitation that characterized her whole life she donned the deathmask and became something new... and unfathomably dangerous.

This spectacular commission was done by HoltzWorks (https://holtzworks.com). A really awesome artist with remarkable range who does a lot of live art streams. If the flavor text confuses you, that's my fault for getting art for characters you don't see until the end of the game. But the heart wants what the heart wants and I really wanted to see her dangerous and corrupted form. She's swapped her erotic dancing accessories for a darker affect that only hints at her former regality. The shift in expression and posture is amazing and the near psychotic expression really complete the vibe I was going for. Carnival is a somewhat sympathetic antagonist since we all understand the fear of death but it doesn't make her any less of a dangerous and capricious force of ruin and madness.
