Villainess concept I worked on last year for my setting involving Adrian and Keiko, a cruel sorceress with delusions of godhood who seeks to rule all that she lays her eyes upon. Was a bit inspired by Sindel from Mortal Kombat 11 in her mannerisms.
Thousands of years ago, there was a highly advanced civilization known simply as the Golden Kingdom. It was ruled by a noble family, with each newly crowned ruler taking on a portion of the power from an artifact known as Golden Crystal, a gigantic gemstone which crashed on Earth as a meteor many eons ago before being unearthed by the people that eventually founded the Kingdom. Golden Crystal not only gives power to the chosen rulers, but also powers everything within the entire kingdom itself, the kind of magitek that was never seen before, nor shall be seen again in the future...
One day, the king and queen brought twin girls into the world, Auroette and Aurora. Being older by a few minutes, Auroette was the next in line for the throne, however as years went by she began to turn into a cruel, vain and overly ambitious person who couldn't be reigned in. Seeing no other option, her parents and the council decided to pass her over in favor of Aurora, who showed more benevolent qualities. Infuriated, Auroette retreated to parts unknown.
On the day of coronation however, she managed to surprise her sister as she was preparing in her chamber, killing her, vaporizing her body and putting on her clothes. No one was the wiser, and the coronation ceremony went on as usual...until Auroette finally reached the Golden Crystal and began absorbing it's power. Normally, the next chosen ruler takes on a small (but still potent) portion of the power. However, everyone was shocked to see their newly chosen queen greedily holding onto the crystal, absorbing more and more power into herself and cackling in delight. No one could get closer, as she used her power to send shockwaves that pushed everyone away. As the king and queen called out in despair, begging their daughter to stop, Auroette revealed herself and boasted about killing her "weakling of a sister". The Golden Crystal, losing all of it's power, turned dim and slumped down onto the platform it was floating above. To seal the deal, Auroette then promptly blasted the crystal into atoms, declaring herself the Goddess of the Golden Kingdom.
For some time, she terrorized the people, uncaring about their pleas to restore the power as their entire kingdom was slowly dying around them. All she cared about was to be feared and worshipped, punishing anyone for the most trivial of slights. Until one day, she was finally confronted by a group of powerful sorcerers who figured out her glaring weakness: her powers would quickly fizzle out in pitch dark areas without any source of light. With this knowledge, they sealed her off in a pocket dimension where not a single particle of light could get into, hoping it will be her eternal prison. Unfortunately, the Golden Kingdom was doomed, as all of it's wondrous structures and magitek ceased functioning and fell to ruin. The people scattered all across the world, integrating into other societies and cultures.
In present day however, a freak accident involving a particle accelerator caused a crack in the spatial fabric, releasing light into Auroette's prison and giving her enough power to escape. Finding herself in a strange new world, she wastes no time in attempting to restore her place as the ruler of all she sees. This time however, she is going to meet a whole lot more opposition, as the descendants of the Golden Kingdom's people passed down knowledge of her actions and prepared accordingly in case she ever returns...
