This texture is somehow "simple" : on a regular grid (for example 640 x 480 pixels) I take something like 500 random points (that don't have to be on the nodes of the grid) and I compute, for each node of the grid, the distance to the closest of the 500 random points - here is the RESULT - then I consider this distance image as a Z-buffer (or an elevation map) and render it with some shading (involving some ambiant occlusion).

Interesting! I had no idea there was more to it than a texture! That's cool actually! I just figured the result would make an excellent brush texture because of how the pattern flows when I first saw it. :) It looked to me like it would make it useful for closeups of skin or leather grain or even snow and ice.
Si le semi de points à l'origine de cette texture était répartie de manière moins aléatoire il formerait effectivement une structure similaire aux alvéoles hexagonales d'une ruche. Sinon, je viens de regarder des photos de cocons de reines et leurs textures semblent un peu moins régulière.
