She did leave Queen C as she didn't 100% agree with her but really didn't want to join Thorax's Changelings as she didn't agree with them either and heavily preferred her normal look. So just used Changeling magic to give herself an Earth Pony form and took up acting. And the admiration they get from it is enough to satisfy her to an extent.
Though main reason why she wears a shadowbolt uniform is mostly since it does cover up her body in case if she feels like being herself and can just wear a mask and cover her mouth with a scarf to help hide her Changeling looks. But its rumored she does have a side job.
