The idea I went for is that Nina knows what she is. And while for a long while she did not know what would happen to her or what she would become, the journey in the end was acceptance of who she is and recognizing her own agency, finding herself. Living for herself, not the purpose of others. Knowing her imperfections and "incomplete" nature from a father who could only give so much, and embracing it.
Nina mimicked the dialogue like the others but like her beak, it did not reflect who she was, even if she did not understand what that even was yet. There's a kinship here because they represent the same potential that was placed in Nina and will forever remain that way.
They are symbolic of people who aren't given that chance. They're not "built" by their mothers or fathers and remain, well...shells. Hollow shells of potential never met because their identity was not built. There's a bit of bittersweet sadness to it because though she never knew them, a part of her always wanted to. And so saying goodbye is her closure because she is moving on. Because she finally has the ability to move forward.
