Russia's lower house of parliament has passed a new law banning gender reassignment surgery, in the latest attack on LGBT rights in the country.

The State Duma approved the bill, which will also ban people changing their genders on state documents, on Friday.

I'm, as a Russian trans man, horrified by how the whole world decided to go backwards on how they treat trans people, how are they breaking our lives to distract people from the genocide my country is doing towards Ukrainians, how they're banning everything related to transgenderism in a favor of "protecting children" when the said children are dying or worsening their mental health *at the best*. We can't get hormones anymore. We can't get surgeries anymore. People who were too late to change documents have to wait when the government changes. Or do it illegally. This is so fucked up. I'm so sorry for every trans person across the world because I know that not just Russia went completely bonkers.
