Remy was up early on Saturday morning. He and his parents would be spending the day at the beach. And Remy had invited Kyle and Bradley to go with them.
Kyle brought along a couple of surfboards for his friends to try out. One a regular sized board, the other a smaller one.
They wanted to leave early so they wouldn't get stuck in traffic. Bradley and Kyle were ready, nonetheless.
After two hours on the road, they arrived at the shore without delay or major problems. Aside from looking for a parking space.
Everybody grabbed their belongings and proceeded down the boardwalk.
The sky was mostly sunny with a slight breeze. Big waves rolled forward and crashed onto the shore. Seagulls flew overhead and dove like bombers into the water for food.
Remy took a deep breath. The salt air filled his nostrils. It was the perfect day to be at the beach.
He and his friends undressed and his mother sprayed them with sunscreen. Now they were ready.
Kyle grabbed the surfboards. He gave the smaller one to Remy.
"Alright," he said. "You guys ready to catch some waves?"
"You bet," said Bradley.
"I figured since there are only two boards, I'll show you one at a time."
"We're okay with that. Right, Remy?"
Remy smiled. "Sure, that's fine."
"I know you can do it," said Bradley. Even if it's your first time."
"Alright," said Kyle. "Let's do it."
Together they made it down to the water where the waves were at their highest.
