The Bellburgh Boomers' New Backup Blimpball Balloon Toon
The Jackalope I spoke to said the ink might wear off after a week, but I don't think he accounted for the fact I've been scheduled for practice at the same time next week. And the next. And onwards through the entire season...and off-season...
I mean, it's not like it's that bad, the retro rubberhose aesthetic is timeless and pleasing, and I've always been one for a lil bit of wackiness, I'm just a bit unsure if it really needed me to be squashed and stretched into a fennec just to play. I'm not sure how to feel about everyone callin' me this new name either! My name's not Finnick, it's Finnick T. Fennec! ...Wait, no, that's not right. Right...?
I think I'm starting to be doubtful that this job as a substitute Blimpball teammate is really as temporary as I was initially told. :C
A piece I did based off some fun ideas after some spontaneous back n' forthin' w/ my friend Nova Blitz, playing around with the idea of me suddenly getting pulled into being a backup member of his rubberhose inkblot toon themed Blimpball team, and getting toonified in the process to fit in and get into proper inflatable shape for it. (BTW, to be brief, Blimpball's a concept from another artist we follow that's basically a sport where all the players in each team are fwoomphed up critters trying to knock each other into their respective opponent's goals, it's pretty dang fun to write and immerse yourself into)
This became me leaping into it as a passion project as I was trying to release stress and as a result, I did a lot more on this than I expected and had a lot of fun with it from start to finish. Felt like I was going back to my roots; ironic, considering this piece's aesthetic, haha.
