Grand Steeds are wild equines that roam the open grasslands of South-Western Elysium. Much like their larger relatives, the Equirex, they are quite dangerously aggressive, but they also display a deceptively calm facade. It's advised to stay at a distance from a Grand Steed as one moment it can act docile and peaceful, only to lash out in a blink of an eye, biting and clobbering its target with its hooves.

Male Grand Steeds possess a type of bony structure on the top of their head. This structure is called a boss and males use it as a weapon in fights over females and territory, saving their hooves and teeth for predators.
A typical herd of Grand Steeds consists of a dominant stallion, 5-6 mares, and their babies. Females remain in the same herd for their entire lives while young males get chased away by their fathers upon reaching maturity.
