Elroy here started out with the internal name "Present" to fit my alphabetical naming scheme, but when I gave him away Elroy was unanimously decided to be much superior! This cuddly leopard is the first plush of mine to have a pattern that was laser cut for better accuracy, quicker patterning/cutting, and stronger edges. The process of cutting plush fleece with a laser or hot knife melts and heat seals the edges, preventing them from ever unraveling and strengthening any seams made along these cut edges. Laser cutting these plush enables me to skip the paper patterning step entirely, allowing me to draft my designs in 3D CAD, unwrap them into flat vector patterns, and directly cut them from the final fabric with the laser. The results are stellar and save a ton of time futzing with the shears and taping paper patterns together!
