Now where did you find a Cray? In the mid to late 90’s I worked as an operator (super computer baby sitter) in the NIST CAML lab with a Cray Y-MP. Needy beast, had its own water tower and we had to constantly monitor the water temps.

This particular set is in the cryptologic museum at the NSA. I have some old pictures from a tour at Cray which included a Y-MP, as well as a Cray-2 which was still running. The heat from the modules made interesting caustic-like patterns in the florinert.

The System Source museum, north of Baltimore, has most of a cray-1, and a cray-3. It's Really Cool ™ and they let you play with most of the exhibits. Their policy is "ask before touching".

Reminds me of my early days working with computer systems running CAD. Had to put the thing in it's own air conditioned room that you had to wear a jacket if you spent any time in there.

The more things change, the more they stay the same... The HVAC in the building I've been assigned to at work is... entheusiastic. Most people have jackets on their chairs for if they have to go into the lab.

That's an apt description for the AC in most places I walk into. I shall remember that term and use it... enthusiastically..
