Despite enjoying reptiles the most out of the animal kingdom, I think my skills are the weakest when capturing their unique head shape and geometry! This was a quick little study of monitor lizards from different front-facing angles to practice general shape so that I can better draw these creatures down the line.
One of the biggest challenges of drawing furries/anthropomorphic animals is learning what shapes you can fudge and bend to "fit" an upright-walking body. It's easy to fall into certain "cheats", hand-waves, or habits, and I'm certainly no different. So, I try my best to capture the real world's example, and then work backwards from there.
P.S Shoutout to my 6" x 6" sketch book, whose pages are so easy to crumple...
