Although I had nothing to do with the character design I did a number of drawings of Mel that were added to the in-house style guide for reference. Mel was a standard character used in the various Math Blaster games done by Davidson & Associates who originally was a non descript robot but became a mechanical mutt in the design reboot circa 1999 or so.
