Duke Daniel Lee:
The mental retardation and illness institution where Satordi was
located was not as I expected, even though this was my second
time visiting the facility; though this time Odette knew I came.
Ever room had a one-way mirror located in the back where the
staff could easily monitor patients without disturbing them. For
the most part, that worked better since most patients became
disturbed when they saw a worker.
It was from behind this window that I saw Satordi sit on the
edge of his bed, looking as if he were prepared to jump off the
edge of earth. Tears began to drip from his eyes before he
lashed out wildly.
But his face had the same pleasant expression on it, but that
wasn't until I realized when he muttered that the half of his
face facing us was paralyzed. It was his tiny dragon Zella in
the back that held his true and pained expression.
"He does this because he's frustrated with himself," Odette
explained. "Satordi was a great man, brilliant. Lord Marsyas
and other politicians had great respect for the man." Her words
were stressed, coming out as nothing but a soft whisper as she
recalled her own time with the man. "He was my mentor, my
first friend among the seekers, and my father when I needed
a father. It was because of him that I am what I am among my
kind, Duke Daniel Lee ..." She bowed her head to his memory.
"And Lord Marsyas will pay for what suffering he has brought
to Satordi. No man deserves to live as a shell of what he once
was ... No man."
As voted on by the poll, an actual piece of art. Complete with
a really shitty background. D: I actually learned that I'm super
rusty with backgrounds and need to practice with them.
Also, I put two characters into a picture! Whoot!
As for Satordi, he truly is just a shell of what he once was. He's
mentally set back to that of a 12 yr old, suffers from short-term
memory loss, seizures, and can't really focus on one thing.
So when he talks, he can't just talk in one language, but tends
to speak multiple languages in just a simple sentence. It really
frustrates him since even some of the seekers have a hard time
understanding him as a result. And as a result of this, Satordi
often has violent fits when he thinks about what a great person
he once was and where he is now.
There is a lot of symbolism that goes with him. His dragon
shares the same colored eyes as him since his dragon often
expresses his true mood. The paralysis of his left face has a
happy expression, but this is expression is only skin deep. It
means that though we think preserving life at all costs is the
best choice, beneath the surface it may not be and cause only
more suffering. The scar above his head is meant to represent
that not only is part of his head missing, but his mind.
Okay, enough symbolism now. Time to eat breakfast.
