No worries, I like answering questions! This one is more about the setting. The Forest of Illway is a pocket universe with different rules, and biological functions don't apply. Eating and even breathing are technically unnecessary, though most still do out of habit. Ingested food disappears once you stop thinking about it, so one might feel full after a good meal, but it never gets processed into excreta.
Sid loves it when people cook stuff for him. It's one of the fastest ways to befriend him. He says there's something special about it when they put love and energy into making food.
