Randomness. Pure chance. Plus tendencies that you don't see, very often "silly" tendencies.
Plus various tastes that people have, you often can't really guess them. There are always many people who can be your perfect audience, loving your style and subjects, ideas, but them finding you is not a guaranteed thing at all, it's pretty complicated.
There is a lot of art also, a lot of competition. Even lower quality (it's a pretty subjective thing though) art attracts some attention (which audience spends some of their attention and time on), and it's normal, beginners need to grow too.
Lots of art and not so much time and "free attention" for people to look at it, there are a lot of other things to see/read/try/play, and a lot of work to do in real life.
Also, less children/teens/young adults exist now, literally. Birth rates are falling pretty hard in most of the world, and especially in countries from where most people have Internet, know english somewhat, and this culture, and can find out about these concepts and join these sites. Less new young men to appreciate art, at least on these "global"/"western" platforms.
Also, sites like FurAffinity/DeviantArt and many, many others are getting banned in some countries, reducing some possible audience from there too.
Many of these things were not happening when the currently popular artists were gaining traction.
They were less in numbers initially, and their audience was growing, increasing, as new and new people were joining the Internet and finding such sites.
Your art is very cute and wholesome.
A bit simple style, it helps it so well to convey the essence of what you want to depict. Adding cuteness and essence of beauty, close to perfect forms and shapes.
I remember I loved seeing new stuff from you, especially dragon-related I think, some time ago.
I think I didn't comment much though.
