Was listening to some Sage Francis songs and they inspired this. No rhyme schemes, no syllable counts, just words where I think they should be. As always, constructive criticism would be much appreciated...I don't write poetic things that often.

Enraptured in the lifestyle,
enclosed in some eternal trial
They tell me to be happy,
and not to be sad all the time
Happiness ain't my grand prize
I just wanna be satisfied.
Look back on the past with no regrets
it's something so simple so let's
talk, about the lives we lead,
about the joys we envision,
but the sorrows are off limits,
we censor what we refuse to hear.
So I spend my time in thought,
just trying to be satisfied,
to listen to the music of my soul
it's something so simple so let's
sing, about our abstract triumphs,
of things high on Maslow's pillar,
but nevermind the groundwork,
for hardships must not be spoken of.
So I face these hardships directly,
just to value being satisfied,
to never take this life for granted,
it's something so simple so let's
be satisfied.
