Been playing Mass Effect Andromeda after going through the Legendary edition. It's still a buggy game with questionable animations, but the writing is still good enough to keep me engaged. Game play wise, it tried to mix things up a bit. Some bits work and some bits really don't. It's a real pity as I think it had a lot of potential.
I do however appreciate Vetra Nyx. Tall, nicely carapaced space girlfriend.

Honestly, I always say Andromeda is a horrible game but I love playing it. Plot? horrible. Enemies? Impossible for a race like that to be possible. Characters? non-charismatic, without personalities and with terrible or non-credible backstories... BUT great scenary, exploration system is good, game mechanics are very dynamic and the music is wonderful so in the overall is funny to play Andromeda but it has horrible plot XD
Even so, I love your take on Vetra :D

I didn't mind the characters, In fact i think they're mostly pretty interesting. I think we just didn't get to know them as well as the previous games. If you went by Mass effect 1 alone, a lot of the beloved characters would be seen as one dimensional, too. I think they just needed more love, which could have come from a sequel, but that never really arose. Vetra is great. Jaal comes of as intimidating, then you find out he is a real sentimental softy. Drak is a grumpy grandpa. Can relate. Peebee slowly grew on me (is still annoying, but I think she's meant to be). Cora and Laim however needed a bit more fleshing out. Liam sort of confused me as to what his over all goal and personality was (I think they realized he was a bit like Garrus again, so they switched his personality, so he is more laid back. But he comes across as a bit confused. He's also such an ass to everyone in the driving sections omg). Cora doesn't have a personality. Training with the asari is not a personality, lol.
The plot is a tough one. I also don't mind it overall, but it's hard to compete with the overwhelming threat of the REAPERS. One overall goal with smaller plots around. This game had all the plots at once. It had maybe too much going on, new galaxy, new races, there is an ancient one (prothians again) and one threat that we never dive deep enough into. It gets a bit lost in itself, and it's hard to feel the urgency when so much is happening at once.
But it is a pretty game landscape-wise. The models are a bit...off in places (asari look like the blue man group lol). I think it got a lot of hate. Some deserving, some not. And it's a shame it was seen as unprofitable because I would have love to see a sequel where my choices could've had an impact.

Thing is Andromeda didn't make much effort into sticking to lore-wise or to work too much on the characters back stories, most of them feel either nonsense or plain and it's not interesting, I can play the game skipping dialogues or avoiding talking with many characters and I don't mind at all, while on ME is impossible to skip any dialogue as it is more well made. Characters on Andromeda are blank, most of them really don't have a story that is very lore-wise or makes any sense at all. The asari being the worse, I would have kicked her out of an airlock for sexual harassement and for costing money for an escape pod; I play the game without interacting with her at all and I gain from that. Cora story has NO SENSE AT ALL because on ME we already saw that Asari are very xenophobic and dones not share anything, so much that human biotics at Jump Zero were trained by TURIANS instead, so it makes no sense at all that asari would include a human on their training, much less when she claimed that one of them was probably and Ardak-yakshi... impossible because both they were a very well kept secret from the rest of the species and they were chased and controled by Justicars and asari government.
The races suddendly has no xenophobia or bad feelings between them... that is also inconsistent because you saw on ME3 that they are still on rought terms even when the Genophage is cured, it's impossible that if they took off for Andromeda 3 years ago they suddendly dropped all that hate that has been going on for centuries. Many of the lore and stories are really made in a rush and with no sense.
Landscapes and Nomad are a pleasure to live. To be honest the plot and story is extremely bad so it's impossible to even consider a sequel, specially on the trope that "humans are the only ones who can solve all the problems and they get the high price of having the best planet for us", yeah... nope XD and the crew and enemies has no respect at all for the main character. Excuse me but Shepard is respected even by the Reapers while Ryder has not even the respect of the crewmates and it feel more like a students ad a university with a grumpy grampa on board and the exchange student who is a romantic hidding beneath a hardener exterior XD
I like playing Andromeda but I can't deny it's a horrible game really, I'm always fair on my opinions that something can be bad but you can still enjoy playing it XD
