Too Hip For Earth (Toejam & Earl TF)
Because no one hasn’t done anything with the duo yet, might as well break that mold.

Wayne and Ryan were gamers. However, they did not like the modern games as much. They preferred the older games, the kind modern audiences had mostly forgotten. Over the years, they had accumulated quite a collection and were also looking for more.
One day a new retro game opened nearby which promised a unique and interesting experience. To Wayne and Ryan, this seemed the ideal opportunity. As soon as they entered, the shopkeeper held up an old copy of TomJam & Earl, the original game from 1991.
"I believe this is what you want," he said.
"How do you know?" wondered Wayne.
"I make it my business to find out what is best for my customers," the shopkeeper replied.
Wayne picked up the game and examined it. It appeared to be in good condition. He gave it to Ryan who also examined it. Both of them were satisfied.
"How much does it cost?" asked Ryan.
"It is on the house," answered the shopkeeper. "I receive my payment in ... other ways."
Wayne and Ryan gladly put up with a little mysteriousness if it meant a free game. They thanked the shopkeeper and headed home to play it. Wayne activated the game and everything went fine. The game was decades old but it played as expected.
Then Ryan took the other controller and things started to change. Lights emerged from the screen and filled the entire room so the walls, floor, and ceiling could no longer be seen. When the lights faded their environment no longer looked like a living room. It was a spaceship filled with all kinds of controls and futuristic equipment.
At the same time, changes were happening to Wayne and Ryan. Wayne turned a reddish color. His clothing attached to his skin and spread out to cover most of his body. The hair on his head disappeared as his eyes extended upward. An extra leg grew out of him complete with a shoe that matched the other two. His entire body shrank making him much smaller than he was before.
White gloves appeared on Wayne's two hands which matched the three high-top sneakers on his feet. A backward baseball cap appeared covering one of his eyes and a medallion with the initials T.J. appeared around his neck. Wayne adjusted the baseball cap so he could see more clearly.
Ryan was already somewhat overweight but he grew even larger. He also grew taller and his skin turned orange. His clothing changed into red and blue polka dot shorts and black and white sneakers. His shirt disappeared completely.
Antennas grew out of his head which became more of a cylindrical shape. A visor appeared over his eyes. This reduced his ability to see but he did not seem to mind even when he attempted to fly the spaceship.
Not only did Wayne and Ryan look like TomJam and Earl from the video game, they acted like them too. TomJam was flying the spaceship but Earl wanted a turn at the controls. TomJam agreed to give Earl a turn which resulted in them crash landing on Earth. In order to leave they had to get the parts they needed which had been scattered all over the place. They had quite an adventure ahead of them.
Unknown to them, the shopkeeper was watching them. He found their adventures to be quite amusing. As he said, he got his payment in other ways.
