Here is the Sailor Pro Gear Standard with the Kaweco Sport. I used them because I want to reiterate the point that you don't need a gold nib to have a good fountain pen. The Sailor uses a 21K gold nib and the Kaweco has a steel one and I think they're both fantastic pens.
The Kaweco Sport is a lot of people's first fountain pen, but that doesn't mean it can't hold its own against the big dogs.
So, yes, I would highly recommend it whether you're new to the hobby or not.
As always, I'd like to hear about the pens y'all use. If you recently got a fountain pen or something (or not recently), I'd love to see it.

Oh, and the Sport has a dark green ink, not black like the Sailor.

There's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing wild. Pretty easy to get used to most of them.
As for the price, the Sailor Pro Gear Standard ranges between $200-300 depending on where you're buying from. That is, Amazon vs. authorized US dealer.
And the Kaweco Sport is about $20-30 depending on where you purchase it from.
So I'd recommend the Kaweco Sport. Been using mine for years and I still enjoy it.
