You say you take requests only when you're not busy, and I assume commissions and trades have a higher priority, therefore: You will finish requests only in your free time, and if you don't get any for a while, the request takes a while to complete. I've seen artists with such a long queue they actually take up to six months to complete one.

On the other hand, if you're not busy, then this is the reason you took this request.

There's a difference between drawing a request - which is requested by someone - and drawing gift art - which you draw for someone you like or admire, and I believe this special picture was gift art, which led to confusion.
