These bottles of herbed oil were sitting on top of a cupboard. I moved them to the windowsill and *tada* Instant still life.

This was shot on an 1850's farm that has been restored to its original condition and is run as it was back then as the State's Park, recreational and educational program. These bottles actually do get used. They were in a cool, dark place until I asked permission to use them for the shot. I made sure to ask if they were for use or show.
Thanks. If you figure out why, let me know. I have been struggling to figure out what it is about this composition that works since it breaks so many rules. The only thing I modified compositionally was cropping off about 1.5 inches of black at the base since I though the little bit I left anchored it well enough.
I had a hell of a time finding an exposure that would show the herbs in the oil as more than sillohuettes without washing out the deeper colors of the bottles. Finally discovered that opening the door to the outside in the opposite wall let in just enough additional light to do the job. I am glad that you liked it.
