I believe he means make the feet plantigrade (real kangaroo) as opposed to digitgrade (this image), but the toes do look much like the real thing either way.
But if we consider the way the hands and body are drawn as a whole, I would dare say more to artist's discretion of how close to the real thing it should be for this style.
Disclaimer: this is coming from someone (me) who doesn't pay much attention to kangaroo anatomy, I had no idea they had such interesting toesies.

This is a re-post of my comment below. On the subject of anthro kangaroo legs, I personally lean towards Type 2 of this chart: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/141.....1244537356957/ or https://i.pinimg.com/originals/da/3.....b9bde763dd.jpg Most anthros I see, like in Blotch's art (see here: https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/List_of.....Days_of_Summer), are Type 3, but this sequence by Arania features the kind I prefer: https://arania.kamiki.net/sequence/.....arty-crashed/. That said, she's also done Type 2 roos like in https://arania.kamiki.net/sequence/.....o-petting-zoo/, https://arania.kamiki.net/sequence/.....-and-kangaroo/ and https://arania.kamiki.net/sequence/.....rico-the-roo/. You can see all her kangaroo art here: https://arania.kamiki.net/tf-artwork/page/1/
Functionally, if she relaxes, her feet/legs are very real-kangaroo like. I worked with him on this one, and the problem solving of how you hybridize an anthro is solved in diverse ways. Here she is poised on her toes with her camera, as Kangaroos also do this, but if she were to relax and rest all the way on her feet (the backs are still plantigrade), is functionally will be pretty close to the actual animal. And her locomotion would be more akin to springy hopping, like true kangaroos / wallabies
movement would be something in between true roo and humanoid bipedal. I got in on the weeds on that one. artists put a lot of time into thinking about stuff, and this rendition is one of the closest on typical anthro kangaroo art. It was a fun problem to solve, and people will have various interpretations. With that in mind too, in reality she is probably much "shorter" than she is here bc due to the length of the foot, she can easily be like a whole foot taller by getting up on her toes in a pose.
I think he did good job, kangaroo feet are a really difficult problem to solve, and adapt to a modernized world.
