Found this pic among others that had somehow been hiding on my digital camera's memory card. Me and my ol' 1898 12-gauge with it's long barrel, slam-fire capability and cute little red evidence tag. I like this gun. It has history. Just wish I knew what it was.

Do you mind telling me what it's name is? I don't recognize the design. It sort of reminds me of a Marlin I had, accept that was a take-down model. I ask because I was told that the take-down had a tendency to explode, so...

It's a Winchester Model 12, made somewhere after 1913. It's definitely not a take-down.

Ah, okay. Model 12s are good guns. I'm particularly fond of it in 16 guage. I've used a 30 or 32(can't remember) inch barrelled 16 guage model 12 to shoot skeet and trap. It was a good gun.

Nothing at all similar to the gun I'm thinking of. Sorry, my screen sucks so I have to guess a lot and -egad!- ask questions every once in a while.
