Last summer, I got a little nostalgic for the old My Little Pony series. Not one of my top favorites, but a cute show none-the-less. Imagine my horror when I discovered the utter horrifying barney-inspired dung pile of MLP generation 3. Dear gawd! Any little girl seeing that and taking that idealism to school would get eaten alive in the playground jungle.

Now this summer, I am again horrified and disgusted by the MLP generation 4 lineup. Spastic animation, anime faces –These aren’t ponies! They’re coconuts with accessories! And the morals – Dear GAWD WHY do all ‘girls shows’ need the ‘punch-you-in-the-face’ morals shoved down girls’ throats these days? Even worse, just in case viewers just couldn’t guess what the story’s moral is, Twilight Sparkle will explain it to you.

Maybe some folks think this is great. But personally, I think Laura Faust has perfectly ruined what was once a decent adventure-based series for girls.
