Perhaps you can make it a seasonal thing? Say, Tee was born in Spring/Summer, and Amity and Damian were born sometime during Autumn/Winter? They don't shift coat colors, they're permanent, but coat color can be dependent on when they either born or better yet, conceived.

It's not really important in his life anymore because I threw out his entire backstory. I may bring the MtF back eventually, if it will fit in his new life. I have to decide where the species goes.
