This is a commission for  kitsuno He asked for a pic of his fursoma and said that i could throw in one or two of mine if i wanted and this is what I came up with.

Here's the story.

Gem was shaking slightly as she was led into the garden. She was new in the neighbourhood and in a bid to get her to make friends her mommy had set her up a playdate with the cub next door. She didn't know much about him, other than his name was Kitsuno. Her mommy nudged her closer to the cub and Gam looked at him with big wide blue eyes.

He just smiled a friendly smile. He had been told that a little squirrel girl was coming over to play and he was looking forward to playing some games.

"Hi i'm Kitsuno, are yoo Gem?" he asked, remembering the name he had been told.

The girl stared at him and then ever so shyly nodded her head.

"You wanna play games?" he asked inquisitively

Again the smallest of nods, she was looking at his different coloured eyes curiously and he could tell she was feeling frightened by the way she was slightly trembling.

"Awwww you dont hafta be scared of me. I won't bite ya or anything. I'll keep you safe kay. Errrr... What do you like to play? you wanna climb a tree?"

Gem's ears flattened and she shook her head so hard her ears flapped from side to side. She spoke a soft whisper.

"I...I'm skared a heights"

Kitsuno tried to hide his shock, a squirrel scared of heights, that was a new one. He thought some more.

"You wanna play in the sandbox?"

Again Gem shook her head.
"There might be bugs in there. I'm scared a bugs"

Kitsuno looked at the baby squirrel, trying to think of what to play, was she scared of everything?

"You wanna play with bubbles?"

Gem thought about this a little. She did so much want to make friends, she was quite a lonely little squirrel cause everyone got bored of her quickly. She nodded and gave Kitsuno a little smile.

"I like bubbles" She said, twisting the end of her tail with her paw.
Kitsuno toddled over to where he had laid his bubbles. He was happy he had found something that Gem liked to do. She seemed really nice. He handed them to Gem and she started to try blowing bubbles but she blew into the wand too hard and the bubbles kept bursting. She giggled as they popped before they had a chance to float around, then handed him the bubble wand.

Kitsuno managed to blow a few little ones. He enjoyed watching them float around in the air, popping on random things. All of a sudden Gem meeped in an alarmed way and Kitsuno looked up to see Gem staring wide eyed at a particularly large bubble he had blown which was getting close to her. She was practically in tears.

"I...I...don't like BIG bubbles" She began to whimper. In an act of daring bravery Kitsuno launched himself into the air and collided with the bubble before it touched Gem. The bubble popped harmlessly on his nose and he collapsed into a heap on the grass. When he opened his eyes Gem was staring down at him, her eyes full of gratitude and happiness.

"Fankyooo" She said shyly and gave him a quick lick on his nose. She liked Kitsuno. He was brave.
