the Witch and the Dragon - Season 3 (conceptual)
Ok so this was something I've been working on since like ... June or July, but it took so long only cus things got in the way, but here we are.
I wanted to have a fresh new updated piece of concept art for my portfolio, showcasing more stuff about Leslie and Bolero's adventures. The first one kinda describes the gang in their usual shenanigans, but looking back it also could serve as kind of a "Season 1" banner for them. This one I pictured would take inspiration from a scene where the gang thwarts a hoard of goblins and an oversized Imp as they barely flee from the scene on Leslie's broom. The text was done by an artist named Clara Jade... who has since fallen off the face of the earth :|
THIS NEW ONE up above takes place in what I like to imagine as 'Season 3", where Leslie and the gang finally arrive to Di'Endi; the magical fantasy world that seems to exist underground (but is actually a pocket dimension between universes that can be accessed by secret portals on Earth). They spend some time getting to know the place, the boys gather some cool new trinkets, and the girls finally get their hands on some well tailored clothing that doesnt look like they've been lost in the wilderness for months at a time (well ... they have, but now they don't look like it anymore)
The background was done by a professional background artist, who goes by AJ or taksesal on Twitter, and can I just say .. he did an AMAZING PHENOMENAL JOB ON THIS THING. GOD DAMN. I can only DREAM of making something that good myself, but since I currently lack the skills I wanted to pass it onto someone who's more than qualified for the job, and also give him a chance to shine with this piece. Also since I'm trying really hard to get this show pitched I might as well have it looking as professional as possible, so this is a huge plus in that direction c:
The logo was going to be done by another graphic designer but ... I ended up doing it myself ^^u so thanks to those of you that were eager to try, and sorry for not giving you the chance to shine heheh..hehh ..heh
I'd also like to introduce these tiny lil Mariachi Frogs up in the corner! They don't contribute much but they like to hang around Leslie and the gang during their travels. The sitting one is Pepe, the one on the left is Chuy, and the one on the right is Flaco! Eventually as the group enters Japan they meet another civilization of talking frogs, and that's where they meet Hana, and she becomes part of the little musical entourage as well c: Felt like it only made sense to include them somewhere as official/unofficial characters since they are somewhat semi-present during the whole experience. I honestly forget about them myself so this is a good way to remind myself that they're there.
But just so we're clear, these are not the default outfits of our little gang, these outfits come a bit later down the road. They start off in cloth strips and cut up pieces of fabric cus they come from indigenous tribes, coupled with the fact that Leslie has been leading them through the wilderness for about 2 years. Its not until later when they finally reach a fully organized civilization where they finally meet people who provide them with proper protective clothing for magical beings. They go through some of those other outfit changes too but those also happen as the story goes. the boys don't really wanna wear any kinda clothing cus they're more animals than anything, so they dont go through any changes other than personal lol
ENJOY :D
