Shiro Kujira was the 37th Dark Horror Robot Kaiju used by the Zelans as the monster of the week in the in the 32nd episode of the anime Dino Mecha Gaiking: "The Ghost Ship from Space".

_Appearances and Abilities_
Shiro Kujira – literally meaning White Whale – was a Whale Robot Kaiju, inspired by Moby Dick – personally I think Dicky Moe, from the 1962 Tom and Jerry Short was likely its primary inspiration, but that's neither here or there to argue about. It was as massive as the Daiku Maryu and used ramming as its principle attack, besides, swimming, it did not posses any special powers.

Like Moby Dick, it had its own Ahab – Captain Poe; an Alien Sailor who hunts Monsters on various planets and sells them to the local zoos, until one of them took his leg – which was Shiro Kujira. However, he was not as ruthless or mean as Ahab, been more nicer in his demeanor and temper, and friendlier towards Hachiro, though he is a bit of a boaster and a goof, traveling the vastness of space on a Interplanetary Sail Ship, which is a bit rundown, yet the Captain views it as a powerful ship. Still he becomes something of a headache to the heroes, specially Daimonji, the episode been a bit comedic focus than norm and the Captain's hunt been the principle focus of the matter, the main Kaiju only appearing in flashback and by the episode's end.

_Story_
The heroes take on a much well vacation on Hawaii, but their relaxing trip is cut short when Hachiro's cruise ship is sunk after been rammed by a mysterious ghost ship, and with no traces of him among the survivors, the Daiku Maryu Crew takes off to search the waters around the accident site to search for him (who the fuck leaves a small child go on a cruise ship without adult supervision?). The Nessar is sent with Bunta and Sanshiro to cover more a wider area.

Meanwhile, Hachiro wakes up in a cabin and explores the ship that rescued him, which happens to be the Ghost Ship that rammed his cruise. He meets the vessels commander, Captain Poe, an Alien Sailor who hunts monsters on other planet, came to Earth to get the one that took his leg, which is here to hunt the Daiku Maryu, much to the surprise of Hachiro; he also get to meet the ships other three crew members who protest the rescue of the child, though they get a rebuke in return from the Old Space Sea Dog.

After Poe shows his personal (ajum) die-cast collection of the monsters he had hunted and later donated to Zoos, he tells the story of his travel to a planet at Alpha Centauri, where he met a massive Silver Whale which after a three day hunt lost his leg and left his ship in the current state. The disaster didn't broke him, as worked on a powerful Harpoon meant to pierce the beast – this is when he was given an offer by Darius to hunt the Daiku Maryu, been tricked to believe its a powerful monster and terrorizing Earth, in exchange he would repair his ship – thus Hachiro quickly realizing he is working with Zelans albeit not for their motives but the sense of challenge.

The following morning, Bunta and Sanshiro find the Ghost ship and Hachiro, who explores the vessel when overhearing the crewmen speaking to General Killer and of their plans; immediately he is found by Sanshiro who had gotten on board and he fills him up about the villains plans and the danger the captain is in, as the crew search for an intruder. Sanshiro escapes, but Hachiro stays behind, wanting to warn Poe. Not long after the Daiku Maryu arrives and Poe takes on the hunt, but Sanshiro warning the others of Poe and his intent to sell the Daiku Maryu to an Earth Zoo, much to the chagrin of Dr. Daimonji, as no attack can be perform with the boy on board. Yes, He also does imagine the idea of the Daiku Maryu been in a Zoo lol.

The following becomes a game of cat and mouse, with the Daiku Maryu Crew been tossed all over the place with every impact of Poe's ship, the latter even firing a net onto the Skull component, not allowing it to take off and form Gaiking - Not joking, comedic cartoon sounds are used throughout this whole sequence. Hell, even the Daiku Maryu shows some facial expression as to how ludicrous the whole situation is.

As the Daiku Maryu makes a run for it, Poe fires his harpoon and latches onto it and fires an energy attack – seeing that their enemy is stuck, the Generals take their chance and fire the Death Cross. Poe's crew, been Dark Avians, abandon ship, Hachiro trying to warn the captain, but too late as the Ghost ship is instead hit and destroy, though Nessar saves both Hachiro and Poe and are taken on the Daiku Maryu where he learns at last it wasn't a monster – though he is more sadden by the loss of his ship, again much to the chagrin of Daimonji for the whole ordeal. At that moment, the Shiro Kujira appears to attack and with the nets removed, Gaiking is at last launched.

Sanshiro uses his Hydro Blazer but the monster avoids it, and get slam by the monster's tail; Poe interdict recognizing the Whale as the monster from long ago, warning there is no way to bit the monster without his harpoon, viewing the Daiku Maryu as a weak ship – Daimonji taking it as an insult. Instead, Poe suggest they use his harpoon, still stuck on the side of the Daiku Maryu. Still wanting to destroy the Monster, Daimonji allows Poe to take brief command, which after a motivational speech, the Daiku Maryu, with Gaiking on top holding the harpoon, make a dash straight to the incoming monster; in the style of old Whaler Hunting, Sanshiro throws the harpoon, making score on the monster, then fires paralyzer which discharge down the harpoon's cable and onto the Beast itself, completely destroying the Shiro Kujira.

After the battle, Poe thanks as well congratulates Daiku Maryu's heroes ... then he asks for Money so he can build a new ship to go back home, which Daimonji is well eager to help transport him to any planet he wants to go to.

We must assume there after the Zelans had a field day on Earth's proverbial ass hole by trashing the place because the Daiku Maryu crew decided to Uberdrive a crazy ass captain across the cosmo?
