Somewhat dependant on the gradient of the slope, though even so, you only need to get it to that tipping point where balance is in favour of going downhill. Stopping too soon isn't much of a fail state, since you can resume pulling, though of course overcoming inertia again would be a... bother. Though I'm working off the assumption of having the strength to get the thing rolling without engine support in the first place.
...come to think of it, though, curves would be annoying to handle as well, wouldn't they? You wouldn't really be able to lock the wheels in one direction easily, I imagine, and even if you did, you'd have to either get the turn radius right on the first go or have to keep stopping to go back and adjust...
...yeah, maybe just dragging the pallet was the easier option.
