June had something substantial happen; potentially softly life altering to the sort of life I’ve lived the last year.
My newspaper job, more commonly referred to as “Hellday”, basically broke my spirit to work the extreme levels I’ve had to in order to make ends meet. I first hit the tipping point on week two, then the third week completely broke me. The Thursday after that Hellday I took a full day off from work. The first time I have ever worked a zero hour work day in about a year and a half (the Christmas before last).
Experiencing my old life was prior to buying my commercial real estate took the momentum out of me and I don’t think I can emotionally return to the 8-12 hours days I was doing for almost the entire last 12 months.
Since that vacation I’ve been working on integrating more free/down time into my schedule. It does mean I’m working less and getting less done.
Legends Arceus & Writing
During my down time, I beat Pokemon Legends Arceus and that game was incredible. One of my favorite Pokemon games I ever played; vastly more enjoyable than the disappointment of Brilliant Diamond. I finally got to see Alpha Hisuian Zoroark in game for the first time and it greatly inspired my story I’ve been writing where my sona first meets Ga’Yunn.
That story has been something I’ve slipped working on during the first block of Hellday (Tuesday) and it somehow really lifts my spirits. For the fourth week Hellday, it made me feel enormously better to get all the way through 2nd block (Wednesday). It was going good until my boss got on my ass at the end of the day for underperforming during 2nd block.
I hate that job so much. I wish I wasn’t dependent on that guy for helping with my commercial property including helping me get on the roof and co-signing the loan for the building. If I wasn’t dependent, I’d quit instantly.
Building Roof Update
Speaking of the building, a new development has happened. On June 29 I officially made arrangements to get some basic roof repair work done on the most severe portions. It will cost me about $10,000 and the work is only temporary. It will have to be undone eventually to do a more proper repair in the years to come.
Still, this gives me some breathing room; I’m no longer staring at the $55-110K repairs I’ve had in front of me for the last year.
And yes, $10K is a lot but living on nothing for the last 12 months means I’ve manage to put enough aside to handle that. Screw banks because they were completely unhelpful in helping me get money for the proper roof repair.
(But I studied business in college, I know where they are coming from; I can’t really be angry at their unhelpfulness.)
Mom’s Water Damaged Closet
Also on June 29 we got the A/C people back in our home and our home A/C is properly fixed. We have an uncle planning to come by in a few weeks to fix my mom’s closet wall that I personally had to tear down to address the water damage from the A/C leaking.
[b][u]Lawn Mower Blew Up
Another thing that happened was our lawn mower we had for over 30 years exploded and I had to fork out money to buy a new one. It was a lot, but this new mower makes mowing so much easier. Hopefully with this change it won’t take as much of my energy to do.
Working Photoshop on Desktop
Some may have noticed I have not streamed in a very, very long time. This is because my graphics card on my desktop computer updated and broke my Photoshop. I’ve done all my work for months on just my laptop.
But thanks to
Alef-GP on June 30, I was able to get something working on my Desktop! I hope to return to streaming going forward.
Bookstore Cat Passed Away
The Photoshop working excitement was quickly put down when I learned the bookstore cat at my mom’s business, which I work at every Saturday, passed away from old age. We now believe he was about 16 years old.
This is a cat nearly every day I worked there, I would take a photo of him in some capacity of either wandering around the store or interacting with customers to post on the store’s Facebook. Very social and very friendly, he usually always made sure people knew he was around.
Yah, an intense number of things happened right at the end of the month….
New Patreon Content
On July 2, we’ll see something new I’m gonna try working into my Patreon. It is different from what I’d done in the past, or at least not since the first few months of my Patreon~ Look forward to that!
Pokemon Violet
For my free time going into July, I want to spend more time in Pokemon Violet to properly finish the game. It’s pretty fun. But I’m told the game doesn’t truly get serious until you complete all the three major questlines you start with. I’m half expecting Violet to hook me like Super Mystery Dungeon did back in the day. That game I set down for a long time, then picked it up again and it went one to be one of my favorite Pokemon games I ever played.
We’ll see if playing Violet sparks any new creative ideas! ^.^ I’m still quite blind to the game; I have not seen the full Pokedex of new Pokemon yet. I’ve still been encountering new Pokemon I hadn’t seen before.
Making life better, one big at a time, because bigger is better~ >w>
