Getting there. The cast came off yesterday afternoon. It still hurts on occasion. Her thumb is pretty mobile but the joint just under her thumbnail is stiff from being immobile for 5 weeks, but the rebuilt joint works great and she can grab things better. Monday starts physical therapy. That will help a lot.
Never had a notebook... Put late night imaginings in my phone for the next morning (usually to wonder just what the hell I was dreaming), or decided in my head that I was/am/will be writing a story and set my fingers on the keyboard. As a result, I'm good at scenes, characters and settings, but stories? Meh!

I never could do cursive. It was bad in the second grade and has gotten worse ever since. If it wasn't for printing and a Remington Quiet-writer I'd have never gotten through high school and college. And thank God for word processors/desktops and laptops or I'd never been able to accomplish what I have in industry and transportation research. One can hardly read my writing now. When I write up a grocery list, a third party would never understand it. It's like code, but I can still read it weeks later. LOL
For years I would get ideas for stories (or ideas for projects I had already begun) and write them on any scrap of paper I could find. I still have many of my old ones from the late 90's, written on pieces of garment backing paper from when I made my living at an industrial sewing machine. Label backings, old envelopes, paper snitched from a printer... anything to carry the words long enough for me to get home to the keyboard.
Kinda wish I'd had a grandfather like James.
