One of Marcia Jamieson's closest friends, from way back (high school days, specifically). Amanda is a biology major/grad student, working in California in the fine field of wildlife research and preservation. Namely she works with forest and aquatic (mostly river) species, though she rarely actively preserves anything.

She's a bit of a Cloudcuckoolander, prone to fits of odd whimsy when you let her do what she wants. She isn't dangerous (in the same way that Osaka of <i>Azumanga Daioh</i> isn't dangerous) just flat-out weird, occasionally being ridiculous when she should know better. But she's a fine person to know, especially if you love biology lectures.
