That collage in the second half sounds impressively similar to the stuff Frank Zappa did on "We're only in it for the money".

yes, i figured out how to do apostolic blurch injector stuff between the 488 and the R8, so for about a month that was all that i was doing. the source material for all of those distorted transients was about 20 seconds of the multitrack for human error. most of the more bell-like and aggressive timbres are from the guitars, and pretty much everything else is from the vocal tracks. overall a pretty fun experiment, would recommend if you have a pretty abrasive sounding EQ, some splicing tape, and a way to switch sources to the master send really fast (from what i've read, zappa used an organ keybed with each individual track of a scully 284-12 hooked up to a note of the octave)
