Boy... I'll bet there's a LOT of folks who wish they could go back in time and fix at least ONE major mistake they made in their lives. I tend to consider the hazards and repercussions of time travel. Say, if I wanted it to make it rain donuts, it'd rain live frogs instead.
I have never made a mistake. I have done many things wrong but the only time anything you do is a mistake is when you learn nothing from it and do it again and again. It took me a LONG time to learn that... and I wouldn't want to try to learn it all over again. So if I'm going 'back in time' then it'd only be if I can take me with me because this me took a damn long time to get this good and I don't think I'd want to risk coming out any different.
Good, sound advice Theo, and quite an astute observation on what can be considered a "Mistake." After all, many of us face a situation where we felt our lives took a turn, and things changed. However, I agree with you about changing one's path and ending up "Different." I could say I'm relatively "Happy" now, but things could have become different. Like say if I never discovered the fandom and joined the US Navy to become a Mechanic Mate. I'd most likely still be in the Navy for all I know.
I've read enough stories and seen enough movies to be thankful it's not possible. There's really no telling what will happen, and no guarantee that you will change anything. And even if you did, it might make things worse.
I hate my mistakes, no doubt, but I don't want to change things. Dwelling on the past too much distracts from now. And I distract myself enough as it is!
